Turkey Libya Military Agreement

In a speech to the parliament`s foreign affairs committee, Farouk Kaymakci told lawmakers that the government had signed the agreement to further improve its relations with Libya. It also provides support to Turkey for the creation of a rapid reaction force for the police and army in Libya, as well as enhanced cooperation in the area of secret services and defence, among others. Turkey and the Tripoli-based Government of National Unity (GNA) signed the maritime agreement as well as a military cooperation agreement in November 2019. A military ceremony was held for Akar and General Guler upon their arrival at the mitiga international airport in Tripoli, the capital. After the military cooperation agreement, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan recently said Ankara might consider sending troops to Libya if the Libyan government requested such a request. .
