Our Disney Vacation 2018 Day 1

While on this trip, I thought I’d journal a bit. I did so good for the first 5 days, but then fatigue caught up with me and I skipped a few days. I’ll try to recap as best I can!

Day 1 – Mid Day Arrival. Resort Check In and Animal Kingdom

Our wake up at 2:45am was painful, but we got to the airport and arrived in Orlando on time, right around Noon. We caught the Magical Express to Disney’s newly renovated Caribbean Beach Resort. Since we arrived before 3pm, we had to spend some time in the lobby waiting for our rooms to be ready. Shortly after 3, we got to our rooms, rested a bit, cleaned up and headed out to Animal Kingdom. The sun was shining when we arrived, but by the time our bus arrived at AK we knew the skies were going to open. As we walked towards the park entrance the skies opened and as we walked in, droves of people were fleeing. It was 28C, and a warm rain. It was the best gift on our first day. While we got a bit wet, it did not dampen our spirits! We enjoyed Rivers of Light, Na’vi River Journey, Pulled Pork Fries at Flame Tree BBQ and because of all the fleeing park guests, we WALKED ON Flight of Passage! I regret nothing! Chris went on his first roller-coaster (Expedition Everest), I did not partake, but I did later in the week and it’s a great story! Being able to go through the full queue line for Flight of Passage was awesome. We missed it in 2017 because had a fast pass and would have on this trip had it not been for the rain, as we had a fast pass again for it in the last days of our trip. So glad we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits.

Stacey and Kate taking in the tree. You can tell by Stacey’s hair just how wet we got!
This about sums up our night!

So as you can see, we had a time! While I didn’t go on Everest, Chris loved it. But wasn’t convinced it would be my thing. As the week progressed, we figured out I might like it based on other rides I liked. I can say, it was memorable.

The following day we didn’t have park tickets, but tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Stay tuned for Day 2!
